The New York Jets (3-10) will visit the Jacksonville Jaguars (9-4) on Sunday at EverBank Stadium. The Jaguars enter this Week 15 matchup riding a four-game winning streak. They are in control of the AFC South and playing solid football on both offense and defense. The Jets continue to struggle through a challenging season, one filled with injuries and instability at quarterback. Jacksonville’s recent run has turned heads across the league and positioned the Jaguars as one of the stronger teams in the AFC. With four consecutive wins, they have climbed to 9-4 and are atop the AFC South. Trevor Lawrence has shown improving form while running back Travis Etienne Jr. continues to be a reliable workhorse.
The Jets’ season has been marred by offensive inconsistency and injuries, particularly at the quarterback position, where an undrafted rookie is set to start this week. The Jets will need a defensive masterclass to compete in this game given their quarterback situation, but recent games indicate there is no guarantee that kind of defensive performance will come.
The Jaguars are getting solid play from Trevor Lawrence, who has thrown for 2,880 yards and 18 touchdowns this season. Lawrence’s ability to extend plays and distribute the ball vertically gives Jacksonville a clear edge in most of their games.
On the other side, the Jets might start undrafted rookie Brady Cook, who is stepping in due to injuries to both Tyrod Taylor and Justin Fields. Cook’s performance last week included 14 completions on 30 attempts for 163 yards and two interceptions, previewing the challenges this Jets offense may face in generating consistent drives this week.
Score Projection: Jaguars 31 – Jets 13
Win Probability: Jaguars 88%, Jets 12%
I'm inclined to believe that we are going to see a lopsided game between the Jets and Jaguars on Sunday. But I think that the over is the best bet in this game, rather than dealing with the headache of laying double-digits in the NFL. Cook should do just enough to lead the Jets to double-digits on the scoreboard, while the Jags will handle the rest to help this game get to the total in Week 15.
