The Boston Bruins (7‑7‑0) will visit the New York Islanders (6‑5‑1) on Tuesday night at UBS Arena in Elmont. Both clubs are still chasing consistency early in the season and both teams will be looking to extend short winning streaks here. Before these Eastern Conference opponents battle it out on the ice, keep reading for my Bruins vs Islanders prediction.
The Islanders arrive with a home record of 4‑2‑0 and an overall record of 6‑5‑1. They have won two games in a row going into this contest, winning on the road over the Washington Capitals before beating the Columbus Blue Jackets at home on Sunday.
Boston is 7‑7‑0 and 1‑4‑0 away from home, which is a concern for them going into this road game. The Bruins did handle the Islanders in their first meeting of the season with a 5‑2 win. But that game was at TD Garden and the Bruins will try to prove they can deliver a similar performance on the road.
Both goaltenders for the Bruins are at the .500 mark early in the season. Jeremy Swayman is 4-4 with a 3.14 GAA. Joonas Korpisalo is 3-3 and has a 3.49 goals‑against average. Both will need to pick things up as the season progresses to help the Bruins be more competitive.
The Islanders appear to be set to roll with their established starter, Ilya Sorokin. Sorokin is 3-4-1 and has a 3.40 GAA for the season. The Islanders will need a lot more from him if they are going to become viable postseason contenders out of the Metropolitan Division.
Boston’s offensive engine remains David Pastrňák. He leads the team with 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists) through 14 games. Veteran scoring from Bo Horvat and Kyle Palmieri should be key for the Islanders. Horvat has seven goals and six assists on the season, leading the Isles with 13 points tallied.

The Islanders should be able to get the job done on home ice tonight against the Bruins. Boston has been horrible on the road throughout the year and that should continue here against an Islanders team that has held each of their last two opponents under three goals.
