Both teams are struggling for wins of late and will try to end their respective losing streaks in this contest from Delta Center. Utah enters the game at 9‑7‑0 overall this season but has dropped its last three games, arriving off losses to Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa in succession. They are returning home after a four‑game road trip in which they went 1‑3‑0. Their lone win on that road trip came against the Sabres. At home, they are stronger, going 4‑1‑0 at home this season.
Buffalo is 5‑6‑4 and riding a rough stretch of its own. They have just one win in their past seven outings (1‑2‑4) and are still without a road win (0‑3‑2). The Sabres have also lost three games in a row, but one of these three-game losing streaks will come to an end tonight.
Alex Lyon is having a rough year in net for the Sabres. He ranks 29th in the league with a 2.92 GAA despite ranking 11th in save percentage at .912. Those numbers suggest that he is facing way too many shots to have sustainable success in goal.
