They have not been good enough in any facet of the game and will try to turn things around on tired legs in this matchup.
Philadelphia is 6-4-1 and has built some early momentum this year. They’re averaging 2.73 goals per contest while allowing 2.64 goals per game to begin the season. The Flyers lost on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs and they will try to avoid a second loss in a row in this contest.
Calgary’s Dustin Wolf is 2-8-1 so far this season, but he could be held out of this game given that the Flames are playing for the second day in a row here. Philadelphia's Dan Vladar, who gave up four goals to the Maple Leafs yesterday. We could see Vladar held out of this game as well, as backup goaltending could end up being the key to this matchup.
Calgary's Nazem Kadri (3 goals, 7 assists) and Morgan Frost (2 goals, 5 assists) are among the few offensive sparks for the Flames. But their supporting cast has struggled to deliver. Calgary’s power-play is converting at 14% and its penalty kill is only killing penalties 76.9% of the time.
The Flyers are being led by Trevor Zegras (4 goals, 9 assists) and young forward Matvei Michkov (1 goal, 3 assists) is showing up as well.
