The Calgary Flames will travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Mammoth on Wednesday night. Both squads have losing records going into this game and could really use a win in this contest, which is the home opener for the Mammoth this season. The Flames enter this game on a three-game losing skid, most recently falling 4–2 to the Vegas Golden Knights. Their offense has struggled of late, scoring two or fewer goals in three straight games. Utah is 1–2 so far this season and lost to the lowly Chicago Blackhawks in their last game. The Mammoth have played three straight road games to begin the season and will hope that their home opener helps them end their recent struggles.
Dustin Wolf has started all four games in net for Calgary so far this season. He has faced criticism for a shaky start, with a save percentage of .873 in early action. But the Flames could rest him tonight on the second night of a back-to-back. Utah will likely lean on Karel Vejmelka, who has posted a 1.99 goals-against average and .918 save percentage in two games.
Matt Coronato is off to a promising start for Calgary, leading the team in points with three (two goals, one assist). Blake Coleman and Nazem Kadri have also contributed offensively for the Flames. Utah will rely on Dylan Guenther, who has recorded four points (two goals, two assists).

My best bet for this contest is for the Utah Mammoth to win and cover the puckline at home. The Mammoth should play better than we have seen them play to open the season now that they are on home ice. Meanwhile, Calgary's struggles generating offense should continue here tonight. I'll back the Mammoth to win convincingly and to get back to the .500 mark on the year while handing Calgary a fourth straight loss.
