The Hurricanes have been strong against the Devils this season, winning both prior regular-season meetings with a combined score of 9–4. That includes a recent 3–1 road victory where Taylor Hall, Nikolaj Ehlers, and Logan Stankoven scored. Goalie Brandon Bussi made 28 stops for the Canes in that win. Carolina remains a top team in the Metropolitan Division with a 29-15-4 overall record.
