Carolina Hurricanes vs San Jose Sharks Prediction - 10/14/2025

The Carolina Hurricanes will travel to San Jose on Tuesday night to face the Sharks. Carolina arrives undefeated at 2–0, having defeated Philadelphia 4–3 in overtime in their last outing. San Jose has dropped its first two games but has been competitive by taking both games to overtime. Here, I break down this inter-conference matchup in the NHL and bring you my Hurricanes vs Sharks prediction.
The Hurricanes have burst out of the gate with wins in both of their first two games. They Carolina has scored 10 goals over their first two games and will try to do more damage with their attack here. The Sharks have lost both of their games in overtime, including a 7–6 loss to Anaheim in which they surrendered a 6–4 lead late. San Jose has shown they can score but have been vulnerable on defense through two games.
Carolina is expected to start Frederik Andersen, who has opened the season with two wins. Andersen brings veteran stability and will be tasked with stopping a Sharks offense that has been promising early. The Sharks have used Yaroslav Askarov and Alex Nedeljkovic for a game each in net. Nedeljkovic was better in his game, but both have left plenty to be desired early on.
Seth Jarvis continues to heat up for Carolina. He scored the OT winner against Chicago and is playing with confidence, having scored three goals. Taylor Hall has now scored in each of the first two games, a first in his career. Jordan Staal also scored this weekend for the Canes.
Dmitry Orlov has already assisted on three goals so far this season for the Sharks. Macklin Celebrini is expected to debut and bring offensive upside to the ice. Jeff Skinner and Will Smith offer veteran scoring ability, but they’ll need to carry more weight in this game given the Sharks' uncertainties in net.

If you like good defense, this might not be the game for you. San Jose has been horrible defensively and that should continue here against a very good Carolina attack. I like the idea of taking the over in this game, but my best bet is for the Hurricanes to win and cover the puckline on the road.
