Both teams have played a game already this season, with Chicago dropping its opener and Boston getting a win in theirs. Boston enters off a solid showing in their opener. David Pastrňák had a goal and two assists in their 3-1 win over Washington last night. Their penalty kill was perfect in that game and Jeremy Swayman made 35 saves. Boston’s new coach, Marco Sturm, got off on the right foot in his coaching debut. But the Bruins are playing for the second straight night here and that could have an impact on them.
Chicago opened their season with a 3-2 loss to the reigning champion Florida Panthers. The Blackhawks were competitive on the road in that game. If Chicago wants to stay competitive this season, continuing to put pressure on their opponents on the road will be key.
We are likely to see Joonas Korpisalo in net for the Bruins in relief of Swayman tonight. The adjustment from one goaltender to another is always important in these back-to-back scenarios and it will be interesting to see how Boston handles that tonight. Chicago will go back to Spencer Knight, who had a .919 save percentage in the Blackhawks' loss to Florida.
Pastrňák remains the Bruins' engine after a huge opening night. He factored into all three of Boston's goals in their win on Wednesday. Chicago got two points from Teuvo Teravainen in their opener. He will be relied upon by Chicago again as one of the few veterans on a young team that is building toward its future.

Under normal rest, the Bruins would likely win convincingly over a team like the Blackhawks. But Chicago should be able to keep this game competitive throughout against a Boston team that could be skating on tired legs tonight. I think there is some value in taking the underdog in this contest and I will do just that with the Blackhawks.
