The Buffalo Sabres and Chicago Blackhawks will square off at KeyBank Center on Friday night. The Sabres are favored at home, but they will need to find a way to slow down a red-hot Connor Bedard if they want to protect their home rink. The Blackhawks enter this game with three wins in their last five games. But they did take a loss on Thursday to the Seattle Kraken and will have to bounce back on a quick turnaround here. The Sabres also took a loss in their last game, dropping a home contest against a Calgary Flames team that has been one of the worst in the NHL this season.
We are expecting to see Arvid Soderblom in net for the Blackhawks in this contest. Soderblom has a respectable 2.52 GAA this season as the backup to Spencer Knight. With this being a back-to-back situation for the Blackhawks, Knight could get the night off. The Sabres’ goalie for this game should be Alex Lyon. Lyon hasn't had a great year, posting a 3.07 GAA on the season. He will need to step up to get his team back into the win column tonight.
Connor Bedard (CHI): The 20-year-old phenom is on a heater. He just scored his second career hat trick against Calgary. He has racked up 29 points on the year, leading the Blackhawks with 13 goals and 16 assists.
Tage Thompson (BUF): Buffalo’s catalyst is Tage Thompson. He remains their top offensive weapon, leading the team with 10 goals on the season so far along with eight assists.

The Sabres have a slightly higher win probability going into this game. But the Blackhawks should be able to overcome playing on a back-to-back here. Bedard has been truly special so far this season for Chicago and he should continue his incredible run against a Sabres team that has been mediocre throughout the year.
