The Detroit Red Wings and Calgary Flames will face off on Wednesday night at Scotiabank Saddledome, as Detroit visits Alberta looking to get a third win in a row. Calgary has already won three straight games and is looking for a fourth consecutive triumph here. Detroit comes into this game with three wins in their last four games. In their most recent contest, goaltender John Gibson recorded a 39-save shutout in a 4–0 win over the Vancouver Canucks, extending their point streak to five games and lifting them to first in the Atlantic Division.
Calgary has caught fire offensively, coming off a 7–4 victory over the Buffalo Sabres in which Yegor Sharangovich scored twice and several other players contributed. The Flames have won three straight games, while Detroit has won two in a row. Only one of those winning streaks will survive past Wednesday's play.
Detroit figures to go with Gibson, fresh off that shutout performance. If he brings the same level of focus, he could neutralize Calgary’s resurgent attack. On the Calgary side, we should see Dustin Wolf in goal for this contest. Wolf has a better GAA and save percentage than Gibson, but Gibson comes in with confidence after his most recent performance.
On offense for Detroit, Lucas Raymond has been a key playmaker with 10 goals and 22 assists so far this season, while James van Riemsdyk has been heating up with multiple goals in recent games. On Calgary’s side, Sharangovich’s recent two-goal outing has to give them confidence to keep him on the ice, and veteran playmaker Nazem Kadri remains a dangerous catalyst with six goals and 20 assists on the season.

This game has all the makings of a fast-paced, competitive game with offensive firepower on display on both sides. While both of these teams are playing well of late, I'm going to take the Red Wings to get the win on the road in what is a pick 'em game in the eyes of oddsmakers. Expect another strong game from Gibson in goal to help them get there.
