The NHL regular season continues with an interesting Tuesday night matchup as the Edmonton Oilers travel to PPG Paints Arena to take on the Pittsburgh Penguins. Both clubs are in playoff contention to this point in the season but are in need of wins to avoid falling behind the rest of their competition in games like this one. Here, I break down this matchup in the betting markets and give you my Oilers vs Penguins prediction on the ice.

The Oilers arrive in Pittsburgh in noticeably better form than their hosts. Edmonton has won two of its last three games recently, including a 6-3 performance in Toronto where Connor McDavid tallied two goals and an assist. Zach Hyman has also delivered consistently on the scoresheet, reinforcing Edmonton’s attack. The Oilers have a 6-3-1 record over their last 10 games, averaging over four goals per contest, and are trending upward offensively.
Pittsburgh enters in the middle of a slump, having lost its last five games. Recent setbacks include a 5-4 overtime loss to the Mammoth where the Penguins surrendered a big lead. This tough stretch has seen Pittsburgh struggle to close out games and maintain consistency, even though they have secured a point in four of their last five games.
One of the most intriguing aspects of this game is the recent goaltending shuffle between these teams. Edmonton acquired veteran goaltender Tristan Jarry from Pittsburgh, and he has already made his Oilers debut, stopping 25 shots in a win. I'm going to take the Edmonton Oilers to win on the road on Tuesday night. The Pens are missing one of their top playmakers in Malkin and that does not bode well against an Oilers team that is loaded with top-end weapons offensively. Expect the Oilers to hand the Pens their sixth loss in a row in this inter-conference matchup.
