Recent form: Dallas enters this contest playing solid hockey despite a recent two-game losing streak. The Stars are second in the Western Conference standings this year, trailing only the Colorado Avalanche. Los Angeles has been more erratic this year, sitting in third place in the Pacific Division behind the Golden Knights and Ducks. Los Angeles has dropped two straight overtime games and will try to right the ship in this matchup.
Goaltending: Darcy Kuemper has been dependable for the Kings, giving them a chance even when offensive support is lacking. Kuemper has a stellar 2.21 GAA and his performance will greatly influence Los Angeles' chances here. Dallas counters with Jake Oettinger, who has delivered quality starts of his own this season. My best bet for this game is for the Dallas Stars to cover the puckline as a favorite on home ice. The Stars have dropped a couple of games in a row, but the Kings have as well, while the Stars have played better hockey overall this season. I'm expecting the Stars to avenge their loss to the Kings from earlier this season and for Dallas to move closer to the Avalanche in the Western Conference standings with a convincing victory.
