Edmonton has been building momentum lately with two straight victories, including a 4-3 comeback win over the Winnipeg Jets that saw Connor McDavid extend his point streak to 17 games. That point streak has tied a career high and McDavid will try to set a new record here. McDavid scored and assisted in that contest and remains a focal point of the Oilers’ offense. The Oilers have climbed into a tie for first place in the Pacific Division and will try to move into sole possession of first place with a victory here.
The Kings eked out consecutive victories recently, including a 4-2 home win over the Minnesota Wild that snapped their opponent’s point streak, but injuries to Anze Kopitar and Joel Armia have tempered their consistency. Corey Perry also departed the lineup for personal reasons, prompting call-ups from the AHL, which could affect depth.
