Montreal Canadiens vs New Jersey Devils Prediction - 11/6/2025

The Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils are set to meet in NHL action on Thursday night. Both of these teams have nine wins already this year and are looking like contenders to come out of their respective divisions. Here, I take a closer look at this huge matchup in the Eastern Conference and make my Canadiens vs Devils prediction for the night.
Montreal enters this game at 9-3-1 and has collected points in six of its last seven games. They suffered a shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers in their last game but will look to extend their four-game points streak here. New Jersey is 9-4-0 but comes off a 4-1 loss on the road to the Anaheim Ducks. They ended a four-game road trip with only one win. They are back on home ice here, where they are perfect on the season so far at 5-0-0.
The Devils are expected to lean on Jacob Markström in goal. He has had a rocky start but remains the veteran anchoring the crease for New Jersey. Markstrom has a 4.18 GAA and a .875 save percentage. Jakub Dobes is expected to get the start for the Habs tonight. He is 6-0-0 and has a 1.97 GAA on the year in what is becoming an incredible story out of Montreal.
Montreal captain Nick Suzuki (16 assists this season) and Cole Caufield (10 goals) are the driving forces behind the team's offensive success. Rookie Ivan Demidov is tied for the rookie scoring lead so far this season. New Jersey's Jack Hughes leads the team with 10 goals and 16 points. Dawson Mercer has 8 goals and 14 points in 13 games. Both teams are efficient on the power play this year and those players are a big reason for that.

The Devils struggled in their recent road trip. But they are back on home ice now and they should continue to play at a high level in Newark. I'll take the Devils to win this game on the moneyline in what might be the best game of the night in the NHL in terms of the quality of the teams involved.
