The Hurricanes are off to an 8-4 start and are 3-1 at home. They’re scoring at a rate of 3.58 goals per game and allowing just 2.67 goals per game. Their last game was a win over the New York Rangers on the road, a solid indicator of how locked in they’ve been defensively.
The Wild are 5-6-3 and enter this game on a modest two-game winning streak after a 3-2 overtime win over the Nashville Predators. They average just 2.79 goals per game and are allowing 3.64 goals on average. This is the first road game for the Wild since October 22 and it will be interesting to see how they handle being away from home after an extended homestand.
Carolina enters this game with Frederik Andersen expected in net. Andersen is 4-3 with a 2.96 GAA and .894 save percentage. Minnesota’s starter is likely Filip Gustavsson. He is 4-6-1 with a 3.11 GAA and .900 save percentage. The goaltending edge might be Carolina's by a slim margin, but both goaltenders have yet to play their best this season.
