The New Jersey Devils (13–4–1) hit the road to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning (9–7–2) on Tuesday night in Florida. New Jersey is trying to sustain its early-season surge and Tampa Bay is aiming to right the ship in front of its home crowd. The Devils are riding high, sitting at 13–4–1 with 27 points, which puts them at the top of the Eastern Conference. They have won two games in a row and four of their last five games. New Jersey has taken the first two games of their current road trip, beating the Capitals in a shootout and the Blackhawks in overtime.
Tampa Bay is struggling to find consistency early in the season. They’re 9–7–2 overall and just 4–5 at home, showing signs of vulnerability even when they’re expected to win on home ice. The Lightning have lost two of their last three games, dropping home games against the New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks due to some suspect defense.

This should be a tight game throughout, but I'm going to take the Devils as an underdog on the road. New Jersey has won four of its last five games and they should continue playing at a high level even with their injury concerns looming.
