The Rangers are off to a great start on the road this year, while the Golden Knights have been mediocre to start this season. The Rangers have been impressive on the road so far, logging a 9–1–1 mark away from Madison Square Garden. Their structure and defensive discipline have limited opponents and helped them to close out games under pressure. Vegas is struggling at home, going 4-3-3 at T-Mobile Arena. The Knights will try to turn things around here, but will need to find a way to breach the defense of the Rangers to win this game in front of their home crowd.
The goaltending match-up favors New York more than it may appear. While the Golden Knights generally rely on strong play from Akira Schmid, Igor Shesterkin of the Rangers has been excellent this season. Shesterkin has a 2.39 GAA and a .912 save percentage.
