Carolina enters this rematch fresh off a dramatic 4-3 shootout victory over Philadelphia the previous night. Philadelphia picked up a valuable point despite the loss and will be looking to flip the script on the road against a Metropolitan Division rival. The Hurricanes are riding positive momentum, having won six of their last eight games overall and coming off a shootout win over the Flyers on Saturday. Carolina sits near the top of the Metropolitan Division with a record of 20-9-2 and has been effective at controlling play through shot volume and sustained pressure.
Philadelphia has a respectable 16-9-5 record but has been less consistent lately, splitting its last five games with a 2-1-2 record. Last game showed how the Flyers can hang with Carolina, but the Hurricanes’ depth and consistency have given them the edge against Philly this year.
Goaltending will be a critical factor. The Hurricanes have strong options in net with Brandon Bussi and Pyotr Kochetkov giving Carolina reliable performances this season. Bussi’s presence this year has been stabilizing and he is expected to get the start here.
