The Blues are mired in a slump, going 0‑4‑1 in their last five outings. They have conceded 26 goals over those five losses. Their defensive reliability has evaporated and they have lost five of their first six games at home this season. The Canucks have gone 1‑4‑0 in their last five games. Injuries have severely hampered their consistency. Both clubs are desperate for a turnaround starting with this game.
Goaltending is a major question mark for both teams. Jordan Binnington has taken the loss in five of his first seven games of the season. He has a 3.27 GAA and needs to be sharper while getting more help from his defenders. Thatcher Demko has been decent in net for the Canucks this year, going 4-3 with a 2.18 GAA. But the Canucks haven't done enough scoring to take advantage of that.
