They’ve won two of their three games on home ice this season, but have lost back-to-back games to the Golden Knights and Stars heading into this matchup. The Islanders are 4‑4‑1 and have also lost two games in a row. They dropped a shootout on the road to the Philadelphia Flyers before losing on the road to Boston on Tuesday. The Islanders have lost three of their four road games and are desperate to reverse that trend tonight.
Both of these teams have seen better statistical performances from their backup goaltenders than they've seen from their starters early this season. The Islanders have been allergic to defending so far this season. I'll take the Canes to win and cover the puckline on home ice here, as they should continue their hot start to this season at the expense of the Isles.
