But the Sharks picked up a win in their last game and will try to pull off an upset in this matchup from California. Winnipeg arrives on the back of a rough outing, having fallen 3‑0 on the road to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. The Jets average 3.46 goals scored per game while allowing just 2.54 goals against. The Jets are second in the Central Division with 18 points in spite of their stumble earlier in the week.
The Sharks have won three of their last four games going into Friday night. They posted a 6‑1 win over the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday. Their 5‑6‑3 record reflects their issues on defense, as San José is surrendering 3.79 goals per game. But their offense is explosive and they will try to outscore the Jets tonight.
Winnipeg will go with Connor Hellebuyck in net in this contest. Hellebuyck is one of the best goaltenders in the NHL. He has a 2.31 GAA so far this season and is expected to bring that number down as the season progresses. Both of San Jose's goalies have GAAs over 3.00 this season. We should see Yaroslav Askarov in net for them tonight.
Winnipeg is led by Mark Scheifele, who has 20 points (9 goals, 11 assists) in 13 games. His impact at both ends of the ice is vital. Kyle Connor has 8 goals and 9 assists and will be relied upon heavily by the Jets as well. San Jose phenom Macklin Celebrini leads his team with 21 points (8 goals, 13 assists) in 14 games. If he can get some help from elsewhere, the Sharks could steal this game on home ice.

Call me crazy, but I'm going to take the San Jose Sharks to get a surprising victory at home over the Winnipeg Jets. The Sharks are bad on defense but they can score goals in bunches. At the very least, I'm expecting a competitive game here and for the underdog to have a chance to win it.
