Their shooting is shaky at 37.7% from the field. Their defensive numbers are very poor, allowing about 79.0 points per game as they adjust to this level of competition. In fairness to New Haven, they have played UConn and Penn State during their first three games, but they struggled against Columbia as well.
UMass Lowell is 1-1 on the season. They won their first game against a sub-Division I opponent before they were absolutely routed by the UConn Huskies in their most recent game. UConn won that game 110-47 in what was a complete mismatch from start to finish. The River Hawks will try to take advantage of their first realistic chance of beating a Division I opponent here.

I think that UMass Lowell will get its first win against a Division I opponent on Monday night against New Haven. The Chargers look completely overmatched at the Division I level early in the season, which is not a surprise and not something you can fault them for. But I'll lay the points with Lowell in this game, as they should hand the Chargers their fourth straight double-digit loss to begin the 2025-26 college basketball season.
