Colorado arrives here at 9-1-5 this season and they are coming off a resounding 9-1 win on the road against the Edmonton Oilers. They are scoring 3.93 goals per game while allowing just 2.40 goals per game. Vancouver stands at 8-8 with a 2.75 goals per game average for and 3.31 goals against per game. The Canucks have won two of their last three games and will try to continue trending in the right direction with a win tonight.
Colorado are receiving strong netminding from Scott Wedgewood this season. He is 9-1-2 this season and has 2.37 GAA. Vancouver goaltender Thatcher Demko is 5-4 and has a 2.57 GAA going into this matchup. Demko has been a victim of Vancouver's suspect defense and will try to make up for that in this contest.
Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon leads the Avs with 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists) and Cale Makar (6 goals, 14 assists) has been a big reason for their success early in the season. Above all else, I'm expecting a high-scoring game between the Canucks and Avalanche on Sunday night. The Canucks are struggling on defense and the Avs are in a great place to take advantage of that. Vancouver should do enough scoring to help this game get over the total as well, in what should be a highly entertaining night in Vancouver.
