The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and Delaware Blue Hens will meet on Wednesday in the 68 Ventures Bowl from Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile. Both teams finished the regular season at 6-6, but they arrive here through very different paths. Louisiana recovered from a slow start and closed the season on a winning streak to get to bowl season. This bowl pairs a program accustomed to postseason play with one stepping onto the FBS bowl stage for the first time. Louisiana has appeared in bowl games regularly over the past decade, yet has not secured a bowl win since the 2021 season. The Ragin’ Cajuns finished this campaign on a four-game winning streak just to get to six wins and bowl eligibility. All four of those wins were by single-digit margins, with the Ragin' Cajuns showing composure late in games with their backs against the wall.
Delaware’s story is different but equally compelling. After moving up from the FCS level, the Fightin’ Blue Hens faced expected growing pains early in the season. However, steady improvement on offense and a 61-point performance to end the regular season pushed Delaware to six wins and a historic bowl invitation. The Blue Hens will be motivated to win their first-ever bowl game, but that won't be an easy task.
Delaware’s offense leans heavily on quarterback Nick Minicucci, who finished the regular season among the Conference USA leaders in passing attempts and yards. The Blue Hens rely on spreading the field and attacking vertically, which can create quick scoring drives but also exposes them to losing the time of possession battle if those passes aren't connecting.
Louisiana’s quarterback situation revolves around Lunch Winfield. He was banged up in the final game of the regular season for the Ragin' Cajuns but he is expected to suit up for this contest. That should give Louisiana a chance to win this game, even if Winfield's passing numbers don't jump off the stat sheet.
