The Old Dominion Monarchs and South Florida Bulls will meet in the Cure Bowl on Wednesday night. Both teams went 9-3 this season and will try to get a 10th win to close out their season in this matchup. But these teams will look very different than they did during the regular season. Here, I break it all down and give you my Old Dominion vs South Florida prediction in college football.

Both Old Dominion and South Florida arrive in Orlando with nine-win seasons but have some major personnel changes that could dramatically influence this matchup. Each team’s starting quarterback will sit out this bowl game, shifting responsibilities to backups with limited experience at the helm.
South Florida’s Byrum Brown, who threw for well over 3,000 yards and ran for over 1,000 on the season, has opted out of this game, leaving Gaston Moore to start. Old Dominion’s Colton Joseph also accounted for high yardage totals in both the air and on the ground. He is sitting out as well, with Quinn Henicle stepping in. These changes will likely reduce offensive explosiveness and elevate the importance of game management and clock control from both units.
At Old Dominion, Quinn Henicle will make his first start after Joseph’s departure. Henicle has minimal collegiate passing experience but has shown agility and toughness when called upon. South Florida’s Gaston Moore will take snaps in place of Brown, whose dual-threat offensive production was a cornerstone of the Bulls’ high-scoring attack. The lack of continuity at the most important position likely points to conservative play calls early and a heavier reliance on running games and short passes to settle the offenses into a rhythm.

It's hard to know what to expect from either of these teams thanks to the quarterback changes that are coming on both sides. We could be in for a low-scoring bowl game as both teams look to get their new signal callers on track. But I think this game will open up nicely in the second half and that we will end up with an entertaining game nonetheless. I'll take Old Dominion to win this game as a slight underdog, though we could be in for anything in this matchup on Wednesday night.
