The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (5-3) will take on the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens (4-4) on Saturday with plenty on the line for both teams. The Bulldogs are one win away from earning a bowl bid and Delaware has a chance to get above .500 entering the final quarter of their first FBS season. The Bulldogs are coming off a statement win, defeating Sam Houston 55-14. That victory snapped a two-game losing streak for the Bulldogs. Their defense has been stout, allowing just 18.1 points per game. And while Sam Houston is one of the worst teams in all of college football this year, Louisiana Tech's performance in their last game was encouraging.
The Blue Hens have been electric offensively but have struggled defensively in their first FBS season. Delaware is averaging 29.3 points per game but is conceding 32.1 points per contest. Delaware has lost three of its last four games and gave up 59 points to Liberty in its last outing. That kind of defense won't be enough to compete against Louisiana Tech this weekend.
Louisiana Tech quarterback Blake Baker has thrown for 1,210 yards with 5 TDs and 3 INTs through seven games. While not elite, his steady decision-making and ability to avoid throwing interceptions gives Louisiana Tech a solid foundation.
Delaware’s signal-caller is Nick Minicucci. He has logged 2,421 passing yards with 15 touchdowns to 4 interceptions. He also has 8 rushing touchdowns and he will try to put up enough points to protect against another bad day from the Delaware defense.

I'm not buying that Louisiana Tech is heading in the right direction just because they beat up on lowly Sam Houston in their last game. I recommend taking the points with Delaware in this contest, as they should use their 3-1 home record to put a scare into a team more experienced with FBS competition in its history.
