Rivalry & Momentum: Minnesota leads the all-time series and has won the past five meetings in this rivalry. The winner of this game will receive the “$5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy”. Nebraska sees this as a chance to get back into the win column against its rivals and bolster its credentials in the Big Ten race.
Nebraska’s upward trajectory: Nebraska enters this game off a dramatic 34–31 win at Maryland. Their pass defense ranks among the best in the country. But the Huskers have shown vulnerability to the run and will need to avoid getting gashed on the ground to get the win here.
Minnesota’s offensive fragility: The Gophers’ ground game has been especially shaky. Minnesota has often had to lean on sophomore quarterback Drake Lindsey for production on that side of the ball. But throwing against Nebraska’s pass defense is a tall order.
Home-field advantage: Minnesota is playing at home, where they have not lost yet this season. Nebraska won their only road game of the year against the Terps and the Cornhuskers will face a second straight challenge on the road in this contest.
Dylan Raiola: Raiola has thrown for 1,591 yards so far, with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions for Nebraska. He’s completed 73.4% of his pass attempts. Three of those interceptions came last week against Maryland and Raiola will need to take better care of the football in this game to avoid leading his team to an upset loss.
Drake Lindsey: Lindsey has thrown for 1,284 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions for the Golden Gophers. Because his team struggles to run effectively, Lindsey is often asked to carry the offense. He will have to be at his best for his team to get a win in this contest.

The Cornhuskers appear to be more well-rounded offensively and should be able to get a second straight road game here. I see the margin falling at around a touchdown, meaning there isn't much value betting this game against the spread. Instead, I'll take the over in this game between two teams that have made it a habit of playing over their totals this year.
