The Monarchs arrive with a potent offense that ranks among the best nationally, while the Warhawks are trying to end a long losing streak by upsetting the Monarchs at home. The Monarchs’ offensive execution has been excellent throughout this season. ODU is averaging 32.0 points per game and about 460 yards of total offense, ranking them among the top 25 nationally in many key offensive categories. Quarterback Colton Joseph has thrown for 2,000 yards and 19 touchdowns, while also rushing for over 500 yards and six touchdowns.
The UL Monroe Warhawks are stumbling. They average only 17.3 points per game and surrender over 33 points per contest. The Warhawks have lost four games in a row coming into this matchup and they will be desperate to turn things around here.
UL Monroe has had difficulty gaining traction offensively, ranking near the bottom of the FBS in passing yards per game (150.6) and overall offense (324 yards per game). They will attempt to stay competitive through their ground game (173.3 rushing yards per game) and hope to disrupt ODU’s rhythm by reducing the number of possessions in this game.
ODU’s quarterback play has a clear advantage here. Colton Joseph’s performance to date has been impressive. His ability to make plays both through the air and on the ground is special, especially in a league like the Sun Belt. Meanwhile, UL Monroe’s quarterback situation is less settled. Aidan Armenta had been starting for the Warhawks previously, but it was Landon Graves who struggled at quarterback for them in their most recent loss to Southern Miss.

The contrarian in me wants to back UL Monroe to cover the spread as a home underdog in this contest. But this game is such an offensive mismatch in Old Dominion's favor that I have no choice but to lay the points with the Monarchs. Expect another big game from Colton Joseph, as the Monarchs should roll and get to 3-2 in Sun Belt Conference play.
