Purdue and Northwestern will face off in Big Ten play on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats are slight favorites in this matchup and they will try to protect their home turf against the rival Boilermakers. Northwestern will also try to build on one of the best wins that program has earned in a long time. Here, I break down this matchup between Big Ten teams and make my Purdue vs Northwestern prediction.

Purdue quarterback Ryan Browne has thrown for 1,541 yards with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions this season. His performance has been inconsistent, and that could be a problem against a Northwestern team that hangs its hat on the defensive side of the ball.
Northwestern's Preston Stone has been more efficient, with 1,081 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and six interceptions. He led his team to one of its best wins in the recent history of the Northwestern program last week, avoiding any interceptions against Penn State. How Stone builds on that performance will tell us a lot about his team's chances in this game.
Northwestern grabbed a shocking 22-21 win last week against the Penn State Nittany Lions. The Wildcats entered that game as 20.5-point underdogs but they were the more composed team down the stretch and made the plays necessary to win that game. Not only did Northwestern upset Penn State, but they also were the final nail in the coffin of James Franklin's tenure as head coach of the Nittany Lions.
This week, Northwestern is back at home after that incredible performance in Happy Valley. As long as the Wildcats can avoid an emotional letdown in this game, they could very well earn a fourth straight win and improve to 3-1 in the Big Ten.

I am going to lay the points with Northwestern in this Big Ten matchup from Illinois. The Wildcats are playing some of the best football we have seen from a Northwestern team in a while. They should continue to do so against a Purdue team that has lost four straight games and is in the midst of a long road losing streak.
