Oregon State is off to a nightmarish start to their year, losing six straight games to open the year. They will try to get into the win column for the first time at home in this contest. Here, I break this game down and make my Wake Forest vs Oregon State prediction for Saturday.

The Demon Deacons have demonstrated offensive balance this season, averaging 398.2 total yards per game. They have averaged 245.6 passing yards and 152.6 rushing yards per game and can hurt opponents with both facets of their offense. Quarterback Robby Ashford has been a steady presence under center, completing 24 of 39 passes for 256 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in their recent 30-23 victory over Virginia Tech. Wake's balance has been a big reason for their 3-2 start.
Oregon State remains winless through six games. The Beavers' offense has been inconsistent, averaging 18.3 points per game, ranking 113th nationally. Quarterback Maalik Murphy has thrown for 1,523 yards, nine touchdowns, and seven interceptions, while wide receiver Trent Walker leads the team with 584 receiving yards. Despite these individual performances, the Beavers have yet to put together a complete game and will try to get into the win column for the first time here.
Robby Ashford's has 1,172 passing yards this season but has thrown just two touchdown passes. Ashford has moved the ball between the 20s but needs to be better when it comes to cashing in on scoring opportunities through the air. Maalik Murphy's inconsistency has hindered Oregon State's offensive rhythm. He needs to cut back on turnovers for his team to have a chance to get their first win of the year.

It is hard to justify backing Oregon State right now given how poorly they have been playing. Wake Forest is still a work in progress as well, but they are at least making some progress, while the Beavers are struggling in just about every facet of the game. I'll lay the points with Wake Forest in this contest from Corvallis.
