The Cavaliers (24-20) are favored on the road despite facing several injuries. Darius Garland, Max Strus, and Sam Merrill are all out, creating opportunities for bench players to step into larger roles. Cleveland’s star guard Donovan Mitchell remains the focal point of the offense and will likely shoulder much of the scoring load. The Cavs have been inconsistent against the spread lately, going 3-6 ATS in their last 9 games. However, they have a strong straight-up road record against the Hornets and will try to add to that here.
Charlotte (16-27) has hovered around the .500 mark in recent games, showcasing better net rating numbers over the past couple of weeks and proving capable of big offensive outputs when its key pieces click. Rookie Kon Knueppel has done a great job in his first season as a pro, shooting efficiently from three-point range to go alongside the contributions of players like LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller. Expect the Cavs to hold on late and make their free throws to cover the spread in what should be a tight game until the final seconds in Charlotte.
