The San Francisco 49ers will travel to face the New York Giants in Week 9 of the NFL season on Sunday. The 49ers are 5-3 on the season and have their eyes on staying in the playoff hunt, while the Giants are just looking to build some momentum at 2-6. One of the major themes heading into this game is the injury situation for the 49ers, especially on the defensive side. The 49ers have been missing star players like Fred Warner and Nick Bosa, and their pass rush has been underwhelming this season as a result. But the Niners have a winning record and will try to get back into the win column after losing in Houston last week.
The Giants are led by rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, who has shown mobility and off-schedule playmaking ability. But the Giants are without another one of their top offensive threats in this game, as running back Cam Skattebo broke his leg last week and will be out for the foreseeable future. With Malik Nabers already out, losing more skill position talent won't help Dart.
The biggest question for the Niners is the status of Brock Purdy, who remains limited in practice this week. If he is unable to go, Mac Jones will take the field again, which isn't necessarily a substantial downgrade. The Giants have had a lot to like about Dart early in his pro career. He has thrown eight touchdown passes and three interceptions. Dart is also a gifted runner and will try to keep the Niners' defense off-balance.

The Giants should struggle on offense this week, even if the Niners are dealing with some injury concerns on defense. The loss of another key skill position player can't possibly help New York on offense and we should see the Niners avoid a second straight loss. I'll lay the points with the Niners, who should improve to 6-3 on the season.
