Both teams head into this contest with identical 7‑2 records, led by quarterbacks who are in the thick of the NFL MVP race. This is a heavyweight NFC West collision. Both teams sit at 7‑2 and are battling for not just division supremacy but potential home‑field advantage in the playoffs. The Rams have one of the league’s top scoring defenses and are playing with high confidence. But the Seahawks arrive on a roll, having just thumped Arizona 44‑22 for their fourth win in a row.
Playing on the road, Seattle has won each of its first four games outside of the Pacific Northwest this season. Los Angeles is 3-1 at home so far this season. But only one team can continue its run of dominance in this situation. And with the winner of this game moving into sole possession of first place in the NFC West, the stakes could not be higher.
Seattle's Sam Darnold has thrown for 2,262 yards over 9 games, with 17 touchdown passes and 6 interceptions. His yards‑per‑attempt average is around 9.9, which puts him among the more efficient passers in the NFL this season. He’s also benefited from an offensive line that has improved and a rising star wide receiver in Jaxon Smith‑Njigba, who leads the NFL in receiving yards (1,041). The chemistry between Darnold and Smith‑Njigba has become a major asset for Seattle’s offense.
Rams veteran Matthew Stafford has been in MVP conversations this season. He has 2,427 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and just 2 interceptions in 9 games. He’s playing elite football, thriving in the Rams’ offensive scheme, and benefiting from key weapons such as Davante Adams and Puka Nacua.
Of course, one former Rams weapon is now a member of the Seahawks. Cooper Kupp won a Super Bowl MVP award as a member of the Rams. The Jake Paul lookalike is now a member of Seattle's receiving corps and should receive a warm welcome from the crowd at SoFi Stadium.
This is going to be a highly entertaining game between two prolific passing offenses in Inglewood. My best bet for this contest is the over, as Darnold and Stafford should continue dealing at the expense of the two defenses in this matchup.
