Both teams are above .500 for the season and the Rangers will look to extend its winning streak while shaking off their early-season struggles on home ice. The Rangers are fresh off a three-game winning streak. They got a 2-1 shootout victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday and will try to win fourth game in a row here. Detroit enters having dropped four of its last five games. They lost 5-4 to the Buffalo Sabres in overtime on Saturday. Both of these teams are playing for the second day in a row and they will try to overcome a rough scheduling spot to get a win here.
New York is expected to turn to Jonathan Quick in this game in the place of Igor Shesterkin. Quick has a 1.26 GAA and a .950 save percentage. Detroit’s goaltending outlook is less stable. John Gibson has been dealing with an upper-body injury, creating uncertainty around their starter. If Gibson cannot go, Detroit could turn to Cam Talbot or go elsewhere.
Artemi Panarin is the leading offensive force for New York. He leads the Rangers with 17 points and his creativity has consistently put defenses on their heels. Mika Zibanejad leads the Rangers with six goals on the season so far.
Detroit is led by Dylan Larkin, who has 22 points on the season so far. He has 11 goals to lead the Wings and 11 assists as well. The Rangers will have to find a way to prevent Larkin from getting his shot off in this matchup.

This game is a toss-up as far as I'm concerned. Both teams are playing for the second day in a row and the Rangers are 1-6-1 at home this season, rendering their home-ice advantage less valuable than it is for most teams. I'll take the Wings as an underdog here, as they should hang around throughout and could take the win late.
