The New Mexico Lobos will visit the UNLV Rebels on Saturday afternoon in college football action. The Rebels suffered their first loss of the season in their last game and will try to bounce back against a decent New Mexico team. UNLV is in strong offensive form, averaging 37.1 points per game and 447 total yards of offense. Quarterback Anthony Colandrea has thrown for 1,618 yards and 12 touchdowns with four interceptions. He has added 410 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns this year. Running back Jai’Den Thomas has piled up 615 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. UNLV can beat their opponents in a number of ways offensively.
New Mexico is playing well under coach Jason Eck. Quarterback Jack Layne has thrown for 1,598 yards, nine touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Their run game features backs like Damon Bankston and others who help keep the chains moving. That ground attack will be key given that UNLV's defense allows 33.4 points and around 461 yards per game.
A storyline to watch in this game is how UNLV responds after their defeat at the hands of Boise State Broncos in their last game. The Rebels gave up 56 points in that game and they need to tighten up defensively and protect their home field to avoid a second straight loss. New Mexico will look to exploit the Rebel defense and attempt to keep the game within reach into the fourth quarter.

UNLV should be able to bounce back from their loss to Boise State on their home turf this week. The Rebels' offense is one of the most explosive in the country and I expect the Rebels to avoid getting completely torched on defense like they did against Boise State. I'll lay the points with UNLV here as they should keep themselves within a game of the top teams in the Mountain West in the loss column.
