Continue reading to get my South Alabama vs Georgia State prediction before this matchup kicks off.
Spread | Moneyline | Total |
|---|---|---|
South Alabama -6.5 | South Alabama −230, Georgia State +195 | Over/Under 55.5 |
The Jaguars and Panthers each head into this game with identical 1-6 records and three straight conference defeats. South Alabama suffered a 15-14 loss to the Arkansas State Red Wolves last week, while Georgia State dropped a 41-24 decision to Georgia Southern Eagles. Neither team has beaten an FBS team yet this season but that will change for one of these programs here.
South Alabama's offense has averaged 23.4 points per game this season, ranking 98th nationally. But they rank 30th in the country with 198.6 rushing yards per game. Their passing is a weakness, but establishing the run could be enough to win this game. South Alabama's defense allows 29.3 points per game (104th) and 370.4 yards per contest (67th). Georgia State averages a meager 18.9 points per game (123rd) and gives up 41.1 points per game (136th). Their scoring defense is the worst among FBS teams this year.
Score Projection: South Alabama 30 – Georgia State 20
Win Probability: South Alabama 65%, Georgia State 35%
I'm not sure that betting on this game would be enough to get me to watch it. With there being NFL, NBA, and NHL games going on during this contest, I recommend doing anything else with your time as an alternative to watching this game. But there is still some potential value in the betting markets here and we'll never say no to that.
My best bet for this game is for South Alabama to cover the spread as a favorite on the road. Georgia State's defense might be the worst in FBS football this seaosn and that should help the Jaguars to win by double-digits in their first FBS win of the year.
