Southern Miss vs Arkansas State Pick & Prediction - 11/8/2025

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles and Arkansas State Red Wolves will meet in a huge game in the Sun Belt Conference on Saturday. These teams are a combined 8-1 in Sun Belt Conference play this season and the winner of this game will take over first place in the Sun Belt's West Division. Before this contest begins from Jonesboro, I've got you covered with my Southern Miss vs Arkansas State prediction.
Southern Miss has developed into a well-rounded squad in 2025. They are averaging 33.0 points per game while allowing 24.6 points per game. They average 397.6 yards per game on offense and will try to light up the scoreboard on the road in the biggest game in the recent history of the program. Arkansas State is vulnerable against the run on defense. But they have held three straight opponents under 25 points and their defense will aim to step up here.
Both of these teams are on four-game winning streaks entering this contest. Only James Madison has a longer active winning streak in the Sun Belt going into this week. And with so much on the line for both of these teams, the pressure is on for both teams to keep those winning streaks alive to put themselves in the driver's seat to make the Sun Belt title game.
Southern Miss' offense is led by quarterback Braylon Braxton. Braxton has 1,959 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and four interceptions this season. He will be opposed by Jaylen Raynor of the Red Wolves. Raynor has put the ball in the air an astonishing 332 times already this season. He has 2,123 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and six interceptions. This game could come down to which quarterback is able to deliver the most consistently.
Score Projection: Southern Miss 30 – Arkansas State 27
Win Probability: Southern Miss 64%, Arkansas State 36%
This is a game that will be decided by a field goal or so in either direction on Saturday. Both of these teams are playing solid football and are improving meaningfully from what we saw them do last season. I'll go with the Red Wolves to cover the spread at home in this game, as it should come down to the wire.
